No mess magnetic vehicle oil drain unit.

Description: THE DRAIN CUP- This devise is basically a cup with an adjustable Teflon coated bolt through the center. The cup secures the removal bolt and is flexible so the bolt can swivel in any direction, and be screwed up and down depending on if the user is removing or replacing the drain plug. The upper rim is molded around a strong magnet to hold the unit in place. The overall design of the cup rim can be changed by whoever builds an actual working model. The cup was designed to accommodate all modern oil pans. What is shown in the drawing is a cut-away version. At the bottom is the drain itself. ( I later thought a stopper built into the drain hose itself would be a good idea in case an unnoticed hole in the hose appeared. This option is not shown in the original drawing.)

Description: THE REMOVAL BOLT- Teflon coated for rust issues, and magnetic to hold the drain plug in place while the pan drains. The removal bolt is held in place at two points. In the center of the unit by two nuts(one top, one bottom) and two more at the bottom of the swivel casing. The two nuts screw together snugly and lock together, allowing the removal bolt to be screwed up or down. (later I decided that the removal bolt at the bottom should be constructed like a socket wrench. The bottom could detach from the bolt for two reasons. To take the bolt out should it get damaged and replace it with a new bolt. And to have the option of using a socket wrench or an Allen wrench to unscrew the plug.  With this option there are a few different attachments that could be used with the bolt.)

Description: THE DRAIN HOSE- The hose could be made of any material approved for chemical disposal. Flex hose would be best for this. The hose could be contorted to any position without fear of cracking, recoil, or kinking. The connector at the drain cup end and the oil container end should be air tight and leak resistant.

Description: THE DRAIN CONTAINER- This is a container that the used oil collects in. It will have a removable bladder with carrying handles that the user can replace into the container when the used oil has been PROPERLY disposed of. The container has built in compartments to hold the oil drain cup and the drain hose, making everything easy to carry and store. The container is fully sealed in case the bladder ruptures, and has a compartment on the bottom to store new bladders.

Contents: 1 Oil drain unit

                1 Oil drain hose

1 container to house the unit, hose and inside bladder

                2 extra bladders.

I hope someone can see the potential of this invention, I am very open to improvements on the design, and better yet, someone to pay for the idea and run with it themselves. Its been six years since I came up with this, and I just don’t have the rescores to bring this to life. So its for sale. (and id like one of the first working models.)

 why I pursued this.                                 03/22/2007

I guess I should start with how this thing came about. I heard about a child who was

helping her father change the oil in his truck. When the oil plug was taken out, for some reason oil sprayed all over both of them. The child was burned because the father did not wait until the oil had cooled. He was in a hurry. A few days went by and one morning about two-thirty am I sat up out of a dead sleep with the picture of this thing in my head. Groggy and confused I remembered the story of the child who was hurt by hot engine oil. I knew immediately what this picture in my head was for. I got up and with my limited CAD skills, drew it out on the computer.

To this day I don’t know why I got such a clear picture of this drain unit, but the reasons it would be a great thing to use were immediately apparent. Now obviously the father of this child never intended for his kid to get hurt. We all know how our children are curious and want to “help Dad.”  And how many times have we all done things out of impatience when we should have waited. So one problem this drain unit would solve would be no more accidental oil burns. You can go anywhere in this country and see oil all over the ground in some places when the do it yourself people choose to change their own oil. This unit would also solve that problem because you don’t pull the unit from the oil pan until all the oil has drained and the plug replaced. This unfortunately does not solve the problem of leaking vehicles,(I am working on that.) but if enough people used this unit it would make the environment a little safer. No more oil spots everywhere from the draining of oil. And since the lip of the unit is magnetic, it can be placed under the oil filter when replacing as well.

The oil drains into a container equipped with a custom rubber or oil safe bladder that can be sealed and removed and the oil disposed of properly at any place that deals with the removal of hazardous liquids. The unit, hose, and bladder can be sprayed out by the technician. The drain container has a compartment for the unit and the hose. And can easily be stored for future use. I also figure different designs can be adapted for commercial use, auto shops and the like.  So no more burnt skin, no more oil everywhere, easy cleanup, and an environment that’s a little more clean and safer for everyone.

I have been trying to get this done for about five years now. I’ve tried every invention submission place I can think of and they all say it’s a great idea, but there is nothing they can do until I come up with a large good faith down payment on the work they will do. This makes no sense to me, if its such a great idea, why cant someone just run with it who have the means to do so and keep a generous amount of the profit. I am not a person of means. I work a low income property and don’t make a lot of money. I do have big ideas. Just to get this thing out to people, and have investment money to start the business I want.  I would sell this idea for a low fair price. Helping people is what I like to do, it’s the business I am in doing property management.  I don’t care about the credit, whoever wants it can have it. Capitol for other ventures is what I am after.  Seeing this invention on shelves and knowing its helping the environment is satisfaction enough.  I know it is dangerous to put things up for all to see, the only thing I have protecting the design is the time/date stamp the drawings were created. and the origionals date back a few years. so If these plans are stolen...I will try to prosecute.  there has to be some honest people somewhere with enough vision to see what I see in this.
